It has recently been revealed that Best Buy is suffering through a weak period in terms of revenue and profit. As the world's largest electronics retailer by sales, it somewhat amazes me that in the generation we live in today with the amount of technology, and the expansion of technology, that the world's leader in electronics is not doing well. The main reason for this is the variety of different retailers nowadays that are taking away from Best Buy. Amazon and Wal-Mart, heavily on the rise, has taken away from Best Buy's ability to consume the amount of sales it needs to obtain to maintain the leader of the pack.
One of the reasons that Best Buy's sales have been decreasing is because the new 3D products that are being created are not selling as much as people thought they would. The kinks within the 3D products, causing headaches and nausea, have led to less of these products being sold. Best Buy, having spent money on the availability to sell these items has backfired. Seems to be that 3D products aren't doing as well as originally thought. I could have predicted that based on the symptoms you get from these products.

The Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo recently released the Nintendo 3DS, a 3D videogame that works without 3D glasses. As groundbreaking as the device is, there have been reports that it causes dizziness. This really brought down the reputation of the device. In addition, the breakthrough of the device turned negative when Nintendo added a warning to say that the device could cause vision damage for children 6 years old or younger. A lot is riding on this system, because the videogame industry has fallen a lot due to the advancement of smart phones.
I saw the Nintendo 3Ds in Best Buy and spent about 10 minutes playing on it. I thought that it was so exciting and ground breaking to be able to see in 3D without glasses. However, after a few minutes I began to feel dizzy. I felt as if I was looking at the device cross-eyed. I can definitely see how it could cause vision damage in small children. I personally would not buy this device because I don't think that I could play too long without getting a headache. Also, the 3D can only be see in one angle. However, I still think that it is really cool. I think that this device definitely has some potential. It just needs some adjustments.

The Xoom versus the iPad
While the Motorola Xoom was once considered better than the iPad, with the release of the iPad 2, Motorolla might be in trouble. Motorolola's Xoom tablet has been one of the biggest competitiors of the iPad. The Xoom cost more to make than Apple's first iPad. People that preferred the Xoom to the iPad found that its display had a higher resolution, and they liked that it had a front and rear camera that allowed them to video chat. Although it was better than the iPad, the Xoom was much more expensive to make. Motorola priced the Xoom at $799, excluding the wireless service contract, as compared to a similar iPad that sells for $729. Because the Xoom can be upgraded free to the 4G cellular technology, the company's chief executive believes that the price for the Xoom is reasonable. When Motorola heard of Apple's iPad 2, their prices went up even more, as they aimed for even better quality.
Now that the iPad 2 is out, several people are extremely excited about it. Most people find that the iPad 2 runs a lot faster, and has much better features. The best feature that people find is the case that folds up and and cleans the screen, but that also works as a stand for the iPad. In addition, the iPad now also has a front and rear camera. I feel that although the Xoom also has great quality, the iPad 2 will definitely be great competition. In the end, I believe that it will ultimately come down to whichever company people prefer.

Why We Prize That Magical Mystery Pad
Many skeptics didn't think the iPad was going to make it. They thought it might actually fail. Could Apple finally do something wrong? Nope, this wasn't the case, as the iPad 2 is about to be released, we now know that the iPad has been completely succesful. Everyone is trying to copy it, trying to make something just as good. As everyone tries to create something just as good as the iPod, iPhone and iPad, Apple looks to create something even better, more innovative.
So what's the next step for Apple? I don't really know, but the iPad 2 has seemed to bridge some of the gaps that the first iPad lacked. Apple will continue to make better versions of the iPad. When the iPad first came out I never wanted to get one. Why would I need something like this. Either my phone or my computer could do something like this. It seemed a little bulky but now it is starting to look enticing. I think I want one because it is less bulky than my computer and it is faster than my phone. After time, Apple products seem to grow on me and my generation.
Internet Marketing
Since we’ve been focusing recently on marketing and its major role in not only identifying customers’ needs but also persuading them into buying a product, I’ve chosen to blog about a recent article posted on Wall Street Journal concerning this topic. The article “Here, tweeting is a class requirement” discusses an interesting way of marketing a product that Sprint has adopted to promote its new 4G network. Basically, the company has provided a class at Boston Emerson College with smart phones and unlimited service and access to the Internet in order to promote this new network. Those students can tweet, Facebook, produce videos on YouTube and implement any other ideas that they might have in order to spread the word to other students about the new network.
I think that Sprint was very smart when it chose to adopt this marketing technique for many reasons. First, identifying young people and students as their primary targets, Sprint brilliantly found a way to reach its targets by giving a portion (the class at the university) the opportunity to promote the product. This not only helps Sprint reach its targeted people but also provides an opportunity for those students to be creative when marketing the product. Second, using the Internet as a marketing technique or medium to inform customers about the existence of your product is smart. This is because the Internet can reach a wide audience from around the world and using popular websites like Twitter and Facebook will guarantee the attraction of many customers. In addition, the Internet is a faster and much cheaper way of conducting marketing.
